Oil Delivery Methods
How Will We Know When You Need an Oil Delivery?
Most heating oil dealers use 'degree day' computer technology that estimates your needs
and consumption based on the size of your home, the size of your oil tank, your estimated past/present consumption and the
day-to-day weather conditions. We also take the weather into account when severe winter weather is forecasted to make sure
you will not run out as well. In the rare event that you do run out of oil, on-call drivers will guarantee a fast fuel
delivery and re-start your system on the spot.
AUTOMATIC DELIVERY
Customers with Automatic Delivery are not responsible for monitoring their tank or notifying us when they are low. Heating oil deliveries will be made according to a schedule set by us and based on the information that you provide. These timely deliveries are based on the size of your home, the size of your oil tank, your estimated consumption and the day-to-day weather conditions. This information is entered in the computer database, along with the forecasted degree days (degree day is a measure of heating) and the computer automatically prints out a ticket when its time for delivery by its calculations. Because of the daily changes in temperature, sometimes there are more or less days in between deliveries, yet that means no more worries about measuring your tank or running low on fuel. If that happens, it may be because of too many colder days and more usage by the customer or if the weather is warmer, you may have used less and you may have more in your tank than expected, so you would get a smaller delivery at around the same expected delivery time. We can not monitor every single customer, so you must notify us if you are aware that you do not need a delivery yet and know that you are on automatic delivery. It takes about 2 to 3 deliveries for the computer to adjust the proper (K-Factor (amount of heat that passes through a unit cube of material) to your usage and correctly project the amount of fuel to deliver and on your computer schedule.
WILL CALL
Some customers want to monitor their own consumption and schedule their deliveries accordingly. You must call us 48 hours in advance before a delivery is needed. Customers are urged to order their oil when the gauge reads no less than 1/4 of a tank. We are not responsible for "run-outs" resulting from customers who fail to give the required two-day notice. In certain cases, you may need a prime to get the burner started again and usually at a minimal cost to you, and done by our truck drivers but you must be home for them to access the system to get it re-started or make arrangements in advance for doors to be left open.
C.O.D. (Cash On Delivery)
Some customers choose to pay for their deliveries as they receive them. You must be home when a delivery is made and pay cash for that delivery. You may also call the office prior to that and pay with a credit card. We do not accept personal checks for C.O.D. deliveries. If you do not have payment at the time of the delivery, the delivery will not be made unless arrangements have been made with our credit or sales department.
PROGRAM/PAYMENT METHODS
The last several winters have been particularly stressful for all of us, as heating oil prices have hit record highs and world crude oil prices have exceeded $150 per barrel. Every year we work hard to give you pricing options and programs that will keep you from being subject to tensions in the Middle East, a weak US Dollar, and strong oil demand both globally and locally. Unfortunately, neither the heating oil suppliers, nor the consumers get to set the price. However, there are ways we can purchase oil on behalf of the consumer and then offer you a program to protect the price you pay during the winter season. These are some of the programs we offer to our customers:
CAPPED PRICE:- The Capped Price allows us to purchase volumes on your behalf to protect against any price increases throughout the winter season. There is a premium insurance called Downside Price Protection with membership fees which are paid upon signing a contract for these types of programs, and it guaranties you a ceiling on the cost per gallon as well as downside protection, in case the oil prices go lower than the capped price you are paying, we will then charge the lower price. These programs usually run between December 15th and April 15th of every winter season. Customers on these programs must be on AUTOMATIC DELIVERY and may also be on a Budget Plan which usually starts in July of every year for a 10 month period. Generally, a liquidation fee applies if cancelling prior to program ending dates. Before and after these dates, customers pay the market retail prices per gallon.
FIXED PRICE: A fixed price contract to purchase at set amount of gallons of
fuel and during a specific time period and payment terms apply as we have to purchase the fuel up-front to ensure you the fixed pricing.
RETAIL Price: A customer that has filled out a residential credit application
and has been approved based on good credit standing has 10 day grace period to pay and must maintain an account in good standing
at all times. Customers on budget plans have 30 day payment terms.
CREDIT CARD Price: A set price for payments via credit card and it
carries administrative fees. We accept all major credit cards. We accept credit card information only via phone by the card owner.
CASH ON DELIVERY Price: Some customers choose to pay for their deliveries
as they receive them. You must be home when a delivery is made and pay cash for that delivery. You may also call the office
prior to that and pay with a credit card. We do not accept personal checks for C.O.D. deliveries.
